POWER RANGERS.

PLOT

Its the Cenozoic Era, and the Power Rangers are tasked with protecting life on planet Earth. The Green Ranger, Rita Repulsa, goes rogue, betraying and defeating the Power Rangers and the Zeo crystal. Red Ranger and leader of the Power Rangers, Zordon, makes an abrupt attempt to overpower Rita, he seizes the Power Coins, the source of the Rangers strength, and hides it.
He then orders Alpha 5,his android assistant, to instigate an airstrike by meteor, ultimately killing him and condemning Rita to the depths of the ocean and also killing the dinosaurs.

Sixty five million years into the future, in the town of Angel Grove, Jason lee Scott, an elite quarterback, performs a prank with one of his team member, leaving a bull in an opponent team's locker room. As they try to escape the police, Jason crashes his truck, injuring his knee in the process. A couple of weeks later, having fully recovered, punishment for his earlier actions ensures he will be placed on suspension from the football team, placed under house arrest, and spend every Saturday in detention. On day 1, he encounters autistic student Billy Cranston and protects him from a bully. Also in detention that day is one-time cheerleader Kimberly Hart, rumours abound of her having punched her boyfriends teeth out. At the end of detention, Billy approaches Jason with the promise of disabling his ankle monitor and access to his mother's minivan in exchange for Jason taking him to the mines where his late father used to work. After hearing his parents argue over what his future will be, Jason accepts Billy's offer and they reach the mines, Jason sees Kimberly diving into a lake in the woods. As they chat over their current predicament, Billy uses a makeshift explosive device to blow a hole in the wall of the mine. The sound of the explosion brings Angel Grove students Zack Taylor and Trini Kwan who were hanging out nearby to the location of the explosion. All five of them notice the Power Coins, finally revealed after millions of years, and they each take one. With the explosion also attracting mine security, they all flee in Billy's van. In the ensuing confusion, they are hit by a train, but everyone survives without any scratch and are surprised to all wake up at home with no memory of how they got there. They all ;Jason destroys his bathroom sink, Kimberley crushes her cell phone in her hand and Billy knocks out the Bully from detention when he tries to headbutt him; realize that they have increased strength, speed and endurance.

Elsewhere, Jason's father is out on his fishing boat, he finds Rita's weakened body holding on to the Green Power Coin while attempting to fish. When he returns to shore he notifies a policeman and leaves the officer, who arrives to investigate. While he is calling in his findings, Rita rises, kills him and goes on rampage, killing people and taking every piece of gold she finds in order to rise her minion, Goldar. 

Feeling the need to find out what has caused their change, Billy, Jason and Kimberly decide to go back to the mine after school to find answers. On arrival, they encounter Zack and Trini who have come seeking answers too for their newly discovered abilities. While exercising their new abilities in some cliff jumping, they come upon a secret underground lake that unveils the entrance to a cavern where they find an ancient starship. They enter the ship and encounter Alpha 5 who takes them to a chamber where they wake Zordon. His consciousness was uploaded into the ship's matrix at his time of death 65 millions years ago. Alpha and Zordon tell the teens about the original Power Rangers team and about Rita's treachery, informing that they have 11 days until Rita gets to full strength and finds the Zeo Crystal and uses it to destroy all life on Earth. The five teens depart the ship without any intention of returning but Zordon pleads with Jason to convince the team to prepare for Rita's oncoming assault.

When the new Rangers return to the ship to train the next day, it is discovered that they cannot morph into their battle armor. Wanting to get the team as ready as soon as possible, Zordon decides to have them train without it. They spend the next week training vigorously in hand to hand combat against simulated Putties and trying to morph with no success. In an attempt to inspire the Rangers and jump start the Rangers ability to morph, Alpha 5 reveals the Zords to the group. Zack takes his Zord out for a joy ride, and almost kills the other Rangers when he crashes it into the cave where they train. This angers Jason and the two get into a fist fight. In trying to separate the two, Billy spontaneously morphs into his battle armor, becoming the first one to do so. However when Zack touches him, it goes away. Angered by their lack of progress, Zordon sends the group home for the day. When the rest of the group leaves, Jason returns to the ship to confront Zordon and discovers that once the Rangers learn to morph, it will open up the Morphing Grid and allow him to restore himself in a corporeal body. Feeling betrayed, Jason accuses Zordon of using the team for his own agenda and leaves. That night, the team decide to camp out at the mine above the ship and share secrets and bond with each other, while Jason hides what he learned about Zordon.

That night, Kimberly sneaks into Jason's room and reveals to him what she really did to get detention; she shared a provocative picture of a fellow cheerleader with her boyfriend and essentially shamed her. Jason tells her that although she did something terrible, it doesn't make her a bad person. Later, Rita attacks Trini in her home, telling her to have the other Rangers  meet at the docks. When the team meets up to discuss it, Jason reveals Zordon's planned resurrection. Not wanting to let Rita win, the team heads to the dock with weapons to finally kill Rita. They are ambushed and apprehended. After forcing Billy to admit that he found the Zeo crystal underneath a doughnut shop, Rita kills him and releases the others. Mourning the death of their fallen teammate, the remaining Rangers take Billy's body to the ship and ask Zordon to return Billy's life to him but he tells them that he cannot. Saddened over the death of their friend, the Rangers admit that they would give their lives for each other and resolve to defeat Rita. In doing so, they unlock the Morphing Grid, and rather than use it to restore himself, Zordon uses the opportunity to revive Billy. With the team restored, the Rangers finally gain the ability to morph into their armor.

Meanwhile , Rita forms Goldar and sets upon Angel Grove, to find the Zeo Crystal. She raises an army of Putties to attack the town and to attack the ship where Zordon is. The newly morphed Power Rangers battle the Putties then set off to Angel Grove in their Zords to stop Goldar and Rita. In the ensuing battle, Jason's father is almost killed until Jason himself exits his Zord to rescue him. After the Rangers destroy all the putties, Goldar gains the upper hand and pushes all five Rangers and their Zords into a fiery pit. While in the pit, the Zords combine to form the Megazord. Seeing this, Rita merges herself with Goldar, and attacks the Rangers. Using a maneuver they learned in hand to hand combat training, the Rangers suplex Goldar and stab him in the chest killing him, causing him to spit out Rita. After refusing Jason's offer to turn herself in to Zordon, an ever defiant Rita tells the Rangers that more will come for the crystal and leaps at the Megazord, only to be backhand slapped into space, where she freezes.
