PLOT
Batman still fights crime in Gotham City a couple of years after he last rescued the Lego Universe alongside Emmet and Wyldstyle. Batman attends the city's winter gala as his alter ego Bruce Wayne to cheer the retirement of Commissioner Gordon and the elevation of Barbara, his daughter, as the new police commissioner for Gotham City Police Department. He is enraged when she lets up on her plans to organize differently the city's police to execute its mandate without the assistance of Batman. The party is abruptly gatecrashed by Joker in cahoot with the rest of Gotham city's villains, but he makes all of them surrender to the police. Despite realizing he will no longer be relevant to the city's safety, Batman suspects Joker is up to something and decides to banish him into the Phantom Zone as a way of halting his sinister plan. The Phantom Zone is a prison for some of the most dangerous villains in the Lego multiverse.
Alfred intervenes as a plan to steal Superman's Phantom Zone Projector is made. He advises to take charge of Dick Grayson, whom Bruce had without being aware adopted as his ward during the gala, to which he eventually agrees and takes him in (Dick) as Robin. The pair are able to recover the Projector from the Fortress of Solitude, and proceed to break into Arkham Asylum and use it on the Joker. Annoyed at his recklessness and suspecting that Joker probably was one step ahead of him all the time, Barbara locks up Batman and Robin. While the Projector is being seized as evidence, Harley Quinn steals it back and uses it to release the Joker as she never surrendered to the police as part of the Joker's plan. Later, Joker unleashes the villains including Lord Voldermort, King Kong, Sauron, the wicked witch of the west, Medusa, Agent Smith and his clones, the Daleks, the Gremlins and the Kraken, all trapped within the Phantom Zone to cause havoc upon Gotham.
Realizing that the city does still need him, Barbara releases Batman and Robin and reluctantly teams up with them to stop the Joker, with the team joined by Alfred. Batman soon finds himself able to trust and rely on the others, allowing them to defeat Sauron, but upon reaching Wayne Island, he prevents the team from joining him in action, out of fear of losing them like his parents; he confronts Joker alone. Believing Batman to be incapable of change, Joker zaps him to the Phantom Zone, before stealing the Batcave's stash of confiscated bombs and heading for the city's Energy Facility. Arriving in the Phantom Zone, Batman witnesses the harm his selfishness has caused to everyone, and slowly accepts his greatest fear when Robin , Barbara and Alfred decide to come to his aid. Making a deal with the Phantom Zone's gatekeeper, Phyllis, to bring back all the villains in exchange for returning to Gotham city, Batman arrives to save the trio and apologises, requesting their help to save the day.
As Joker plans to explode the bombs beneath the Energy Facility-an act that sees the plates beneath Gotham split causing the city to drop into the infinite abyss, Batman in collaboration with Alfred Robin, Barbara who he turns into Batgirl and Gotham's other villains, who felt neglected by Joker, successfully send the escaped villains back to the Phantom zone. However, Batman fails to stop the bombs from exploding, causing the city to split apart. Batman unwillingly convinces Joker that he is the reason for being the hero he is, and working together alongside Batman's friends, the villains and the city's inhabitants, chain link themselves together, reconnecting the city's plates.
As Batman, having saved the city, prepares to be returned into the Phantom Zone to fulfill his bargain, he is rejected by Phyllis, who would rather let him remain after observing how much he had altered himself in order to save all of them. Meanwhile Joker and the rest of his cohorts are allowed to temporarily escape by Batman safe in the knowledge that when they resurface again, they wouldn't stand a chance against the combined team of himself , Robin, Batgirl and Alfred.
