BEHIND THE FICTION : CHRIS HEMSWORTH

Hot on the heels of 12 Strong's solid opening weekend debut, where it amassed $16.5 million in its first three days at the domestic box-office, HybridMovies x-rays its lead character, Chris Hemsworth, on this week's edition of  Behind The Fiction.  

Born in Melbourne, Australia on the 11th of August, 1983. Chris is the second of three brothers - all actors and has Dutch, English, Irish, Scottish and German ancestry. He is the son of a social services counsellor, Craig Hemsworth - his father, and Leonie Hemsworth, an English language teacher. He vividly recalls his childhood memories as one with the crocodiles and buffalos.  Once, when he was quizzed about his early days back home in Melbourne, He famously said ," my most vivid memories were up there in Bulman with the crocodiles and buffaloes.

Journey into the movies

One of his foremost acting roles came in the TV series ,Guinevere Jones, a Canadian/Australian fantasy television series where he starred as Arthur, the king of Cannelot. He also featured in soap opera series such as Neighbours, Marshall Law while also playing minor roles in movies such as Cash (2010), A Perfect Getaway(2009), and Star Trek(2009) to mention but a few. His biggest and most famous role up to date will come in the Marvel Studios Smash-Hit Thor, where he plays the protagonist,Thor, the god of thunder and wields a hammer to defend his kingdom from the enemies spearheaded by his adopted brother Loki. He would reprise the role in subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe hits. He has A-list films such as The Avengers, Thor 2, Snow-white and the huntsman, Avengers, Blackhat, Vacation, Thor 3 to mention a few to his credit. He is a critically acclaimed actor whose box-office featured films have totalled a staggering $7 billion and counting.

 Private Life

He is married to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky(Fast and Furious), with whom he starred in 12 Strong film with, and they both have three kids. He currently resides in Australia, where he moved from the U.S in 2015, as he no longer needs to  be there to secure film work.
