Sony studios Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle's four weeks peak atop the domestic box-office came to a screeching halt by fox studios Maze Runner: The Death Cure which takes over. Despite a solid opening 3 days North-American gross of $23.5 million, the third and final franchise of the dystopian action flick, which sees Thomas embark on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as the "Flare", fell short of matching or surpassing its past prequels, Maze Runner 1 & 2, both grossed a combined $63.1 million at an average of $31.5 million each in their opening weekends. A solid return for the lads from fox studios none-the-less.
Despite slipping a step back to number 2, Jumanji continues to have the wind in its sail. It presently has a global box office gross of $822.7 million, placing it at number 46 on the All-time list of highest grossing movies. It's Sony studios fifth highest grossing movie of all time. Surely worth a look-in if you haven't sized it up already.
Entertainment studios 6th weekend of Hostiles made the biggest jump of the weekend to third (3) position. The Christian Bale featured adventure flick set in the 19th century and stories a legendary army captain decline to escort a cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory, fetched in $10.2 million from 2,816 theatres for a total gross of $11.95 million.
