THE WEEKEND AT THE BOX OFFICE: FEBRUARY (2 - 4).


Jumanji roars back to the Summit to a yawn from HybridMovies


For box-office viewers, it probably must be boring having to see the same flick, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ,take/retake top spot despite being around for a while, seven weeks now, however kudos to the guys at Sony Studios for keeping it real with what they do best as Jumanji 
continues to consolidate its rise atop the All-time-highest-grossing-movies list with a cumulative(cume) domestic gross of $352.64 million and an overseas cume total of $502.6 million over the three day weekend to aggregate $855 million on the global box office list. Its the first time a December release has peaked atop the box office in February in over a decade.


The third and final instalment of the dystopian sci-fi hit Maze Runner: The Death Cure, pulled in $10.2 million domestically for a cume of $39.7 million from 3,793 theatres. The Fox Studios action film still has a long way to go before breaking even with its budget which stands at $62 million.

Despite Winchester's best effort to scare away theatre-goers towards the Superbowl climax, ardent horror flick fans kept a date and saw it earn $9.25 million from 2,480 theatres in its opening weekend. The Lionsgate Studios fantasy-horror debuts at number three in its opening weekend.

Fox's Greatest Showman retained its position from the previous week albeit with reduced earnings to gross $7.8 million for a cume domestic gross of $137.47 million.

Entertainment Studios Hostiles, A Christian Bale featured adventure flick set in the 19th century and stories a legendary army captain decline to escort a cheyenne chief and his family through dangerous territory, polled in $5.523 million domestic gross from 2,934 locations to close the weekend with a $21.237 million in its seventh weekend.


12 Strong

Steven Spielberg's The Post dropped a step down to earn $5.2 million from 2,934 locations for a total domestic gross of $67.184 million as 12 Strong closed the weekend with $4.71 million in its third weekend. STX's  Den Of Thieves still runs 12 Strong close since their debut weekend and once again with lesser earnings of $4.67 million to close the weekend with a total domestic total of $36.27 million. Fox Searchlights The Shape of Water still chills in the top ten with a weekend gross of $4.3 million from 2,341 locations. The Oscar nominated movie is in its 10th weekend and has a budget of $19.5 million while bringing down the curtains on this edition of THE WEEKEND AT THE BOX OFFICE is Warner Bros' Paddington 2. Everybody's favourite bear holds strong at number 10 with $3.11 million from 2,388 locations for a cumulative domestic gross of $36.3 million.
